HERE ARE SOME USEFUL TIPS & INFORMATION
HOW DO I CATCH THE PUBLIC BUS?
Although there are bus shelters located around Rarotonga it is not necessary to be there to catch a bus. Our public bus will stop anywhere on Rarotonga the we can safely pull aside off the road. As you see the bus approaching, simply wave out to indicate to the bus driver your intention to follow the bus.
WHERE DO I PURCHASE TICKETS?
All tickets/fares can be purchased on the bus from the driver. You can find our available fares on our fares page. We only accept CASH on the bus. Our local currency is NZD
HOW DO I KNOW WHERE MY STOP IS?
Our drivers are normally good at remembering your stop so let them know where you wish to go as you board and gently remind them as you get near your destination.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH BUS IS WHICH?
Our Buses operate different services on Rarotonga such as school buses and charter buses. Each bus will have a sign in the left hand (passenger/door) bottom side of the windscreen indicating its current operating service.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME FOR THE BUS AND IT HAS NOT COME?
Please refer to our bus schedule. The indicated times are estimates at best and no bus should arrive before the scheduled time. Due to no bus lanes, buses may often be delayed by other road users or road works. There should not be a delay longer than 15 mins for any service.
I THINK I FORGOT SOMETHING ON THE BUS
This happens a lot. We cannot guarantee the safety of forgotten items on the bus but will do our best to locate if for you. Call our office as soon as possible, let us know which bus you caught and what time. We will contact the driver to check. We also have CCTV on our buses that we can use to follow up if the driver cannot locate your missing items. Our office number is 25512.
CAN I MY 10 RIDE CONCESSION BE SHARED?
Yes, you can. The 10 Ride Concession Tickets can be shared between multiple passengers at 1 ride per person. The sharing conditions are based on the condition that all passengers are travelling together on the same trip. The ticket can not be physically halved/split to share with multiple passengers. Doing so will void your ticket and you will not be issued a refund or replacement. The driver can and will confiscate such damaged tickets.
ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS FOR PENSIONERS?
Sorry, due to our service being fully private and not receiving and subsidies and/or funding to operate, we do not provide discounts. We do have our own special programme for Cook Islands Pensioners collecting the Cook Islands Pension.
I DID NOT RECEIVE A TICKET FROM THE DRIVER?
A physical ticket should be provided by the driver for all paid fares. If you did not receive your Physical Ticket we encourage you to report this using the contact page. Provide us with the route, time and boarding point of your trip.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE BUS IS DELAYED?
Due to Road Works, Increased Usage, Breakdowns and Heavy Road Traffic Use our buses can be delayed. With Major delays, another bus may be deployed to begin the next scheduled departure from the Cooks' Corner Terminal, in such cases the delayed bus operating that route will terminate at the Cooks' Corner Terminal. We encourage users to use the route that has your destination stop on the same loop. ie. before reaching Cooks' Corner Terminal.
